I looked around Flickr a bit and checked out Picasa and Smugmug as well. I think I like Picasa a little bit more for several reasons.
(1) I don't have to open another account with another service. Picasa is part of Google and so it this Blog!
(2) Picasa is Mac friendly. And since most of my personal pictures are on my MacBook Pro inside iPhoto, it helps that Picasa totally works alongside (actually, within) iPhoto. A quick download and I was set to go.
Instead of trying to find the Library's camera and take a picture to load, I decided to work with some photos I'd already taken. Here is a slideshow of some pictures I took this Summer of some Kittens I'd found outside my house. They'd fallen into my window well.
After making sure they were okay, I put them back out in the yard--a safe distance from the window well--along with some tempting food. When I returned later that evening, kittens and food were gone, so I felt sure that the Mama had returned to claim them.
Just the other night I saw these same two kittens--albeit three months older--scampering around the neighborhood.

Thing 5: Explore Flickr--(a) Inserting an Image
Flickr seems like a very easy way to share photos with friends. But, first, I think I'll be doing good to simply pull an image into my blog that is already mounted on Flickr.
You know, there are sooooooooo many images on Flickr, it is hard to know where to begin. I tried searching my name because I thought it was a pretty common one. But, turns out, people don't necessarily identify pictures that way.
I did run across some really cute pictures of a chiguagua puppy named Barlow that made me rethink my dislike of most things "dog". Then, I thought, I'll just see if there were any cute kitten pictures. My Golly, there are a gazillion kitten pictures!!! But, as I breezed through the first several hundred I realized, that I liked my pictures of my pets and friends pets much better than most of what I was seeing on Flickr.
So, I opted for a picture of Sedona (see below), originally posted on Flickr by sonic_serenity. I recently got back from a week Sedona and really loved it. I highly recommend a vacation stay in the area.

Thing 4: Registering and Tracking
Well, the Registering part was easy enough, but I did hit a slight snag in the Tracking.
In the last couple of weeks, I've gotten my new Ubuntu desktop--which is actually rather nice. Because I use Horizon fairly regularly, I've also been able to keep my old Windows cpu.
While working between two desktops and cautiously exploring and using DeskNow as a file-manager, I somehow lost the most recent version of my Tracking Log file. Hrmph!
So, today, I'm reconstructing my timeline to date. Luckily, I'm not all that far along in the 23 Things process, so there isn't all that much to reinvent. But still .....

Thing 3: Creating a Blog
So many choices!!
Gosh, I needed to come up with a name and pick a template. Who knew!?!?
Well, I'd already counted on needing to name the thing, so I'd come up with that last week. "What in the world does that name signify?" you may ask. Well, it's silly really. A friend in college was fascinated by this strange form of pig-latin used in the children's TV program Zoom. She could converse fluently in "ob-language" and I was pretty much the only person who could understand her and serve as translator. My name in ob-language is Dobebbobie and this is my Blobog!
And, as far as the template goes, I'm happy with the idea that I can change my mind about that at any time. Whew!!

Things 1 & 2: "Challenges of Getting Started"
Well, I've done this twice now, that is, I've gone over Things 1 & 2 two times--once last week and now, again, today. My memory is, obviously, not what it used to be! But, repetition can be a good thing and now I feel like I'm truly ready to hit the ground running.
I'm looking forward to the "challenges" the training presents (see, I'm already incorporating one of the 7-1/2 Habits) and I'm going to try my darnedest to have fun with it!
